Port of Yueyang development plan approved

PORT of Yueyang`s development plan has been approved by China Ministry of Transportation, Xinhua reports.

The port is situated on the bank of Yangtze River in central China`s Hunan province. According to the plan, it will comprise four major port areas of Yueyanglou, Qilishan, Chenglingji and Daorenji, as well as seven other port areas of Lucheng, Junshan, Xiangyin, Miluo, Yueyangxian, Huarong, and Linxiang.


Chengjiling port area is the core of the port and will be used for transportation of container, grain and other bulk or break bulk cargo, and will offer water-rail-road intermodal service. Other port areas are mainly planned for oil, chemicals, dangerous goods, construction materials, coal, ship repair and passenger transportation.


Port of Yueyang handled 76.3 million tonnes of cargo in 2009, including 86,400 TEU of container cargo.
