TAIWAN`s TS LINES plans to commence a Far East-US west coast service from November through a partnership with Chinese carrier Hainan PO Shipping (Hainan POS).

TS Line will participate in the new China-America West Coast Express (CAE) service operated by Hainan POS, by contributing one ship to the five-ship loop, reports Alphaliner.

Initially the CAE began calling at Ningbo, Shanghai and Long Beach in August, with Hong Kong and Shenzhen-Yantian added in September as the rotation was extended to five weeks up from four weeks using five vessels of 2,700 to 3,500 TEU.

The first TS Lines vessel to join the service is expected to depart from Hong Kong on November 22.

The two carriers also plan to launch a second transpacific service in April 2011, focusing on the south China/Taiwan-US west coast trade while the CAE will focus on central and north China, the report said.

Since June, the two carriers have also been cooperating in the China-Australia market when they launched a joint service, connecting China to Australia, called the China-Australia Express (CAX).
