ZHUHAI International Container Terminals (Gaolan), a member of the Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) group, has hosted a delegation made up of 24 members of the Hong Kong Shippers` Council that was led by the council`s executive director Sunny Ho.
Delegates toured the terminal and questioned the terminal operators on the Zhuhai hinterland and its importance to Hong Kong, as well as the potential for cooperation between terminal and local logistics companies.
"Due to its proximity to Hong Kong, economic cooperation between the two cities can only grow," said ZICT(G) general manager Wilson Poon. "This will become more apparent after the construction of the Zhuhai-Hong Kong-Macau Bridge."
The facility is a joint venture between Hutchison Delta Ports (HDP) and Zhuhai Port Enterprises Group Company. Situated on the Nanshui River, southwest of the city, it has been operating since 1994.
It is equipped with two 50,000-tonne container berths that serve manufacturers based in Zhuhai, Zhongshan, Jiangmen, Foshan and other neighbouring areas.
