OOCL, NYK subsidiary TSK and Cosco plan to extend the port rotation of their joint Far East-Middle East service that OOCL calls the Middle East Express (MEX), by adding a call at Bandar Abbas.
A sixth week will also be added to the rotation, including an element of slow steaming, said an Alphaliner weekly newsletter.
The service, which was launched in May of this year, initially deployed five vessels each with a nominal capacity of 7,500 TEU (or loadable capacity of 6,500 TEU), with OOCL and Coscon providing two vessels each and TSK Line one ship.
The revised port rotation for the MEX service will be: Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shenzhen (Shekou), Singapore, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Bandar Abbas, Singapore, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
The MEX service replaced the Middle East Asia Express Service (MAX) that was formerly operated by OOCL and TSK Line with five vessels each with a nominal capacity of 5,500 TEU (or loadable capacity of around 5,000 TEU), an OOCL statement said.
