French truckers end strike threat after winning 4pc pay hike

THE threat of national French truck strike is off after employers agreed to pay the 610,000 drivers four per cent more in wages.
The union announced it would call off the strike scheduled for Sunday December 13 after reaching an agreement with the trucking companies.
Fearing a strike would paralyse the French transport system just as the annual Christmas rush was reaching its peak, the French government intervened in the negotiations.
