Cosco hikes THC, waste rate, adds bunker surcharges from January

COSCO Container Lines has announced a Shanghai Export Terminal Handling Charge (THC) increase on all shipments from Shanghai to the US and Canada from January 1, of CNY470 (US$68,83) per TEU, CNY755 per FEU, CNY755 per 40-foot high cube, CNY955 per 45-footer, CNY525 per reefer TEU, CNY850 per reefer FEU and CNY850 per reefer 40-foot high cube.
Cosco also announced a rate increase of US$100 per unit for waste shipments - paper and plastics - from north west Europe and Mediterranean, including Israel, Lebanon, Syria, North Africa and the Black Sea region, to Far East from January 1.
From US west coast ports, the bunker adjustment factor (BAF) will be $278 per TEU, $348 per FEU, $392 per 40-foot high cube and $441 per 45-footer. Through US east coast ports, the bunker surcharge will be $551 per TEU, $689 per FEU, $775 per 40-foot high cube and $872 per 45-footer.
From Far East and the Indian subcontinent to Canada, a bunker surcharge will apply to cargo going through Vancouver and Prince Rupert. This will be $278 per TEU, $348 per FEU, $392 per 40-foot high cube and $441 per 45-footer. For cargo through Halifax, the BAF will be $551 per TEU, $698 per FEU, 775 per 40-foot high cube and $872 per 45-footer.
The Far East and the Indian subcontinent is defined as Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Papua, New Guinea; Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.
