Caribbean`s Tropical Shipping acquires Deluxe Freight

LESS-THAN-CONTAINER load (LCL) Caribbean specialists Tropical Shipping has acquired Miami-based NVOCC Deluxe Freight for an undisclosed purchase price, according to the UK`s Handy Shipping Guide.
Deluxe Freight is described as being among the top local players in the Cayman Islands LCL import-export market since commencing operations in 1996, said the report.
Tropical Shipping operates out of Palm Beach, Florida, with a fleet of 11 owned vessels and also spot charters other ships. The company calls at ports in the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, eastern Caribbean and Guyana as well as the Cayman Islands.
Management at Deluxe is expected to remain in place with Willie Munoz continuing as president, having led the company since its inception.
