Cargotec has won a contract to supply six Kalmar E-One2 rubber tyre gantry (RTG) cranes to Evyap Port in Turkey, to assist with the port`s continued expansion with delivery of the booking taken last quarter this year to be July 2010.
"We strengthened our cooperation with Evyap in 2007 to increase their container throughput capacity. In those days they were operating with just two mobile harbour cranes, three Kalmar reachstackers and two Kalmar empty container handlers," said Cargotec yard crane vice president Raimo Ukkonen.
"After a thorough investigation on how to maximise efficiency and reach capacity goals, Evyap turned to Cargotec. The recent order will bring the total number of Kalmar RTGs ordered by Evyap to 10," he added.
Evyap Logistics operates the Evyap Container Terminal, situated 70 kilometres east of the Bosphorus at the Anatolian side of Istanbul. The Evyapport facility, accessible to approximately 60 per cent of Turkey`s industry, covers 135,000 square metres of land and utilises a 600-metre berthing length.
Cargotec`s expertise in container and heavy load handling is represented in the global marketplace by the wide range of Kalmar solutions. Its sales totalled EUR3.4 billion (US$5.09 billion) in 2008 and it employs 10,500 people.
