Hamburg Sud, Alianca, CSAV in new east coast Americas loop

GERMANY`s Hamburg Sud, Brazil`s Alianca and Chile`s CSAV have announced a combination of their container shipping services between the South American and North American east coasts.
Subject to US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) approval "of this much needed rationalisation" will start with the first call of the CSAV Itaim at New York on September 19.
This comes with the merger of the CSAV operated USAtlan Service and Hamburg Sud and Alianca`s Tango Service, said a joint statement from the consortium.
The New Tango string will be operated with seven ships with an average capacity of 3,500 TEU apiece, of which five will be provided by Hamburg Sud or Alianca and two by CSAV.
The rotation will be New York, Philadelphia, Norfolk, Charleston, Jacksonville, Port Everglades, Puerto Cabello, Suape, Santos, Buenos Aires, Rio Grande, Navegantes, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Suape, Pecem and back to New York.
